In 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all United Nations Member States
Eradicating poverty and addressing inequalities are central to the agenda and are key priorities for Latin America and the Caribbean. Achieving the SDGs requires the partnership of governments, private sector, civil society and citizens alike. The region’s progress in meeting the goals has been slow, however, and was further delayed by the pandemic. At the current rate of investment, Latin America and the Caribbean will not be able to reach the SDGs by 2030. Panelists will discuss current challenges and opportunities to achieve these common goals in the new context.
