Women's empowerment

With the aim of strengthening women's entrepreneurship, AmCham Colombia, in partnership with WEConnect International, has worked to increase the participation of companies belonging to women in global value chains, facilitating connections with multinationals operating globally.

Since 2014, the House has conducted evaluations to certify women-owned companies and since 2016 has represented the Organization against local entities, with the support of the U.S. Embassy, the State Department and Exxon Mobil, who provide resources for the development of this program in the country.

Thus periodically, within the framework of various events developed at the national level, WEConnect empowers its entrepreneurs through networking days, business trainings, matchmaking sessions and business expansion opportunities. This dynamic has allowed the network in Colombia today to have 35 certified companies and more than 150 in a state of self-registration, which allows them to receive some of the benefits of WEConnect's global network with a view to its eventual certification.
