In November comes AmCham Colombia's Colombia-California Business Week

 

From November 17 to 19, the Colombo Americana Chamber will hold this event that will include virtual technical visits to California production and distribution centers, customs talks on export processes and a business day between Colombian and Californian entrepreneurs.

Bogota, October 22, 2020 (AmCham Colombia).- In order to publicize the commercial and investment opportunities between the state of California (United States) and Colombia, and generate business spaces between entrepreneurs from both countries, the Colombo Americana Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Colombia, will conduct from November 17 to 19 the 'California Business, Trade and Investment Week' , in alliance with the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy.

"California is one of the states with the best opportunity to sell Colombian products in the United States. Last year, our country exported more than US$2.3 billion in various goods to that state, including floriculture products, coffee, petroleum oils and clothing," said AmCham Colombia director Maria Claudia Lacouture.

During the opening of this event, participating entrepreneurs will have an overview of the binational market, discover how to take advantage of existing business opportunities and learn about some successful business cases of Colombian and Californian companies.  

The investment climate, potential sectors and the entire ecosystem of partners that support Colombian companies interested in arriving in California will also be exposed as part of this meeting. In addition, there will be a day of virtual meetings in which participating Colombian and Californian companies will be able to have appointments, one by one, with business prospects previously identified according to their business interests.  

By the end of this week, entrepreneurs will make virtual technical visits to production and distribution centers to learn about good practices and innovation processes in potential sectors in that state and participate in a talk with customs for the promotion of exports from California to Colombia.

The most exported products to California

Between January and August 2020, Colombia exported US$ 830 million to California. In recent years, the highest point of Colombian exports to that state was in 2018 when they registered at US$ 3,404.2 million, according to analysis by AmCham Colombia.

As for the most opportunity Colombian products in the California market, this year the top five make up: (1) petroleum oils and bituminous ore; (2) un toasted, uncaffeinated coffee; (3) fresh roses; (4) extracts, essences and concentrates of coffee, tea or yerba mate; and (5) Oil – not crude – of oil and non-bituminous ore.

Within this top, extracts, essences and concentrates of coffee, tea or yerba mate were one of the best-in-performance goods in this year's run, despite the juncture, growing by 109.6% compared to 2019.

Moreover, between January and August this year, Colombia's imports from California were worth US$ 239.7 million. In addition, in 2019 California ranked first in imports between the United States.
